My Inner Child,Koodake Daroon, Israel & Iran go against America's wish easily
Thanks to Katoozian the Persian Artist for the above picture. I was 6 months old when I had my first operation since my grand pa threw me in the air after I had milk and my intestinals twisted.Then again 12 years old to repair the first operation and appendices and all... SO when I think ofmy inner child this is what I see myself as. I need to change a lot of thinking an dthis is one. I also have a question for all thou my readers hesitate to answer I wisjh they do. Hereis my question:What is it that Iran says he continues building the nuclear power, and Israel says she continues to build settlement houses, both against America's wish? Israel says that while she get billions a year from America and Iran says that thou they took hostages fromAmerica. Why these 2 countries have so much power over America? Dont throw shoes just honestly answer this question,both news are in the paper today.Both countries go against America's wish ,where is the power coming from?

israel was given aids to keep the peace in middle east,there is more terrorist activities now tahn before, so why is US giving so much aids to a country that wont listen to his wishes about the settlement is beyond me. As for Iran and taking hostages and their hands in a lot of international terorist activities tehy had to be first on the list/

#1 Roya, I'm going to try and answer your question. First of all there's a thing called Realpolitik, which roughly translates as "politics to serve your own interest". In this case a country will ignore inconvenient facts that don't suit his present situation, and will pay attention to other facts that do suit him at present. So when Israel builds settlements against the Americans' wishes, even though it receives billions, it may suit the Americans at that stage, or it could be that there are a lot bigger things to worry about than a few little houses in the middle of nowhere, even if those few little houses make the Palis go bonkers.
The Israelis themselves have their own Realpolitik issues. They will keep building in certain settlements because those places are planned to stay as part of Israel, whether the Americans, the UN or anyone else objects (which they always do), because without those settlements, Israel's borders are indefensible and project an image of weakness which just invites more terrorist attacks. And don't think Israel gets away with it without any American reaction. The US frequently withholds aid money, removes Israel from joint projects etc.
As for Iran, I'm sure their nuclear ambitions do NOT suit the Americans, but it isn't convenient to go after them seriously at the moment because all their attention is focused on Iraq and the War on Terror. This is certainly a short-sighted view, but it's also pragmatic because who would help the Americans invade Iran and destroy those reactors? The Europeans? No way, they're HELPING the Iranians! And they're too scared I think anyway. The Israelis? Perhaps, but they can't do it on their own and the Americans don't want to go into action with just the Israelis. They need someone else on board too and they can't get that yet.
So sure, many countries thumb their nose at America, but that's politics. Nasty dirty business.

Lewis what you said as above makes me wonder that all these hostage taking in Iraq was startde by that famous hostage taking of Americans in Iran that left unanswered.Israel answers fast and hard whu noy America?which one is wrong?

My short answer: In the equation between Israel and US, clearly Israel is the winner. America can only wish it has more sway for the investment it has made.
As far Iran, they are taking advantage of the lack of unity among the western nations, mainly because of France. (Why is that? That is a whole another topic.)
If US is sufficiently threatened by Iran or any other nation, they won't hesitate for a moment to take the action. Every country acts on its own self interest (or that of the ruler). US does not have any more power than how wisely it uses the carrots and sticks.
