I moved, and my grand ma's house to remember

Believe it or not with help of 8 MORMONS ,some young, good hearted and kind and strong Mormon missionaries I moved to a 2 bedroom. It is a blessing. W etook a picture but did not come out on my computer o.k so I posted dick holmberg's picture remembering when he moved me from Virgina. When I was driving the truck I got sooo scared and was crying. But now its better. o.k here is the story of my grandma's house that I wrote some time before for my book.I hope you find it interesting. Also more comparisons plus clicking the header is this one, and this one and this one.

I want to describe my grand ma’s house in Tehran. It is amazing and unique. The location was at south of Iran and our house was at north. We lived in Darrous and they lived in Tir near kouche abshar. One side of the street was a public bath and in the middle dabestane Kasai(elementary school) and the other side was a vegetable market. I never went that far cause was not permitted to go alone anywhere. I lived there for a year and went to that school at 4th grade. When you get to the door there was the plaque in gold writing my uncle’s name Dr. Farhang.. that my grand ma had proudly installed it since his son went to Germany and became a heart physician! I love all my uncles they are great and my male figures in life. I lived with daee farhang and Daee Bijan there and daee houshang had married and was not living there.Anyway as you would go inside a long hallway with walls made of kahgel or khesht(mud and straw) that was changed later. Then in the yard was a small pool up to your ankles(that I would swim in it as small and low as it was). With a fountain in the middle. And next to pool was a abanbar. You see in old days they would store water in those abanbars or water storages and that’s why people had worms in their body drinking unhealthy waters. When I lived there that abanbar was never used. At the corner of the yard was a bathroom! God forbid if you had to go to bathroom in cold winter nights cause there was no heating system and you had to walk all the way to end of the yard to go to bathroom. Then there were 2 big trees chenar? And some roses in a small garden. Then you could either go upstairs or downstairs. If you go upstairs you get to rooms and under those stairs was a hollow place that my uncle Bijan was keeping some pigeons. I called them bagh baghoo for how they sound. Uncle Bijan would help me make badbadak or kite. Then when you walk downstairs first on your right was a small greenhouse with yas and jasmine flowers that everyday we would pick and I made necklesses from it. How they smelled NEVER again I found a flower smelling that good coming from the hands of my dear grand pa. There was only love in that house. Then as you step down in front of you was a room and at the right another room that was natural airconditioned, cold like you had airconditioning on. At the left hand side was the KITCHEN. THE KITCHEN. O.K I wish somebody had even one picture of this house not even one picture is available. This kitchen was dark. The sink was tall and all stone. All made of stone. I had to raise my feet to reach the faucet and the water was always cold. I was 10 then. Then 3 more steps down to even a darker place called pashouye or where you wash feet and my uncle Bijan loved that one as his own sink! It was the darkest place of that house and God knows what creatures were there. Then to you right were one step and 3 big holes in each was either coal or onion or whatever I was too scared to even step up to that place. Then 2 blue oil stoves (cheragh nafti) that the most delicious food would come out of this kitchen and those stoves everyday. Every morning my grand ma and khale shokat and Zari would all walk downstairs and get out at noon with the most delicious food and I am not kidding. I have been to Carlyle hotel in NY, to best restaurants in Swiss, but never tasted anything better than my grandma’s food. God bless her soul (maman atish as my son called her). Then upstairs had a room to your right one as my grand pas room and TV room, in the middle the samovar room and one to left as my grand ma and my room. Behind this room was a sandoghkhooneh! Whats that in English?dont know attic but always behind a room.. Between them were curtains not doors! Privacy meant nothing. But upstairs where my 2 uncles lived had doors and 2 separate rooms and private phone and also a big mehmankhane(guest room) as the third room with a nice chandelier. NO ONE while I was there went there and saw that chandlier cause everybody would go staright to my grand pa’s room (the one to the right) and very soon you could hear takhte and tass sounds(backgammon). In the middle room was a samovar with tea constantly boiling. Who was that important guest that one big room was wasted and sitting there forever I never figured. I never forget the year I lived there . Man be booye atre golhaye yas dar on khaneh arze eradat kardeam.

What is wrong with me I like everybody and all beliefs!

I am in the library posting a sunday religious posting.I think humna beings are basically good and all in search of truth or in search of easing up the road they must travel to the end. I dont want to be trapped in one belief, one opinion one way. I think that is the road to prejudism and fundamentalism when you insist your way is THE way. I w ent first today to an episcopal church, then to church of Trinity and then to church of Mormons. I felt at peace when prayers were said and Cathi argued that since I have some needs now I maybe going the wrong way and to the Mormons. But believe me as when I married a Bahai and his religion was not important but his daily practices and beliefs in conducting life was important, same goes with different Christians(to me they are different Christians, to them they are in detail criticized). I said as Sunni and Shiie (I kill whoever put a T in Shiee,MOGHREZ) anyway lets all celebrate being a human and trying to be good. Our fight makes the terrorists smile. TOLERANCE is accepting each other and a greater degree of it is tolerating another sect in your religion, then another religion totally different from yours and then those who dont believe in God altogether. Bani adam azaye yek peykarand.(SAADI) the persian poet says Human beings are like mebers of one body,if one part hurts the rest of the body cant rest. ALso clcik here for pictures of hooman and Kamran who like Mj too!see I even love Michael Jackson, what can I say I am what I am. Pare sokhte, Zamine sokhte - Burned feather, burned ground of war

Another painting from Katoozian the Master.
Now read this ,interesting and thanks Jaleh.
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned
HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
And YOU are one of them! CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good..
and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

Praise the painting or the painter?

Here my neighbor teaching a friend how to do pottery. and this is the letter I sent my priest. My impression of todays religious note is as title. Try to have patientce of Christ in you is another topic I liked. Also thanks to my Dr.'s wife for lending me the pottery video. Here is my letter to the priest:
Hello Mr. M.; This is Roya ,a Muslim searching for teaching of Jesus. I thank you and your wife for helping me. The issue I want to bring up is the fact that in my research and search I met some Mormons. To me Christians are Christians but I heard weird commnets about them like they worship Satan. To make sure I attended their service and found out they don't. Then I came up with this idea to share with you and later share with their Pastor. I wish you would visit their church and they would visit yours once evry couple of months. Why I say that? First thing is that rumors stop and unity starts, then if Christians are united they have more power against the enemies who try to put division between followers of Christ. I say that because in Iran between Muslims are separation of Shiie and Sunni, and that brought war and terrorism. Here if there is separation between Christians may bring unhealthy results. So I suggest all different denominations to visit each other's church once in a while. I am sure God will be smiling as well and other religious figures seeking peace and unity and TOLERANCE. Then we can go visit other religions and their worship places as next step. What do you think? Thanks and see you soon. God Bless you and your family; Roya Posted by Picasa

My Inner Child,Koodake Daroon, Israel & Iran go against America's wish easily

Thanks to Katoozian the Persian Artist for the above picture. SO when I think ofmy inner child this is what I see myself as. I need to change a lot of thinking an dthis is one. I also have a question for all thou my readers hesitate to answer I wisjh they do. Hereis my question:What is it that Iran says he continues building the nuclear power, and Israel says she continues to build settlement houses, both against America's wish? Israel says that while she get billions a year from America and Iran says that thou they took hostages fromAmerica. Why these 2 countries have so much power over America? Dont throw shoes just honestly answer this question, both news are in the paper today. Both countries go against America's wish ,where is the power coming from? Posted by Picasa

Me and Babak in Timsar's house on the day of valimeh!!

We moved to a one bedroom first rented it from my cousins husbands brothers wife a n Italian woman talking farsi with an accent. We settled there thou again never my parents were invited and I was not quite welcome not being a BAHAI. Once we went to the seaside and Bahman and I had a fight and timsar was sitting outside our bedroom thou we made up in the room and were sleeping he was saying so many girls we showed Bahman and he chose this girl himself and has a fight with. O.K with Bahman you had to be submissive and if you totally listened to him then he was a kind husband,I mean if I would put bleach cream on my face he would make a scene or since he hated TV our smallest item in the house was a little TV and if I would watch TV he would be offended. I did not know how to be political with a man and play the game. I had a break down once in London, and twice we got separated and right when I told myself this month when I get my period I ask for a divorce the test results came and I was pregnant. Everyhting changed since I strongly disagree with abortion and I was told when you have a child things get better. O.K Timsar was watching me for how much salt I take and nutrition was his number one concern thanks GOD, I thought they liked me but even for as long as I was breast feeding my body was important ,thou in the party to show the baby to the relatives I was not invited. These little incidents hurt and made me withdraw. We moved to a 2 bedroom after Babaks birth. Well its funny that when my son was being born I had a c-section and when I woke up they said I cant see the baby for 24 hours!!! Weird I paid some money to the nurse and they brought the baby in the room far away from me and showed him to me. Nobody let me hug him. I heard later the bond happenes then and I was deprived from it. When I first saw him he looked so beautiful and had red lips. I loved him immediately. The next day I was sitting in the chair the nurse came and said do you want to breast feed the baby. I said how? I dont have milk, she said yes you do. They put the baby in my arms and Babak started sucking and wow there were so much milk I could feed another baby too!! Strange works of God. I heard Timsar was worshiping the ground since a boy was born a day before their new year,Rezvan. I wanted to go to my mothers house after I gave birth since I knew nothing about raising a baby, I remember I was there 3 days and somehow I was returned to my one bedroom against my will. Bahmans family were too strong to fight with. I was alone, with a c-section and had to take care of a baby. I hated it again. Humiliation was a lot like my mothers house was not clean or big enough to have Babak in there. We moved to another 2 bedroom and after 5 months we hired a phillipino maid(angela) so I could go back to work. That maid had more power over my child than I did. I had to always be an observer,VOJOODE HAZERO GHAEB.
Revolution happened and I talk about that in my book . I remember me an dTimsar standing next to the wal and we hear people shouting in gheytarieh and I was scared . timsar said dont be these mullahs have to be thrown in the sea like atatork did in Turkey. Later when I went to demo of women against hijab Timsar said you are a brave woman.
And then I was told that they want to go to Canada! Hello where was I in this decision? Then I agreed to a divorce since I was given the papers to sign for Canada cause the Canadian embassy forced them to. AT divorce time I found out that there is a rule being enforced that sons are given to fathers at 2 years old and usually the fathers would give them back to mothers which Bahman did not and took Babak with him. Daughters were given to fathers after 7 years. I said to myself first the law wont let me have him and second he is from a Bahai family and the revolution in Iran was a dangerous situation so I let them to take Babak outside of Iran to England first, then Switzerland and then to Canada., I had no other choice either with stupid rules of divorce against me and his Bahai grand pa and revolution I thought its better for him to be outside Iran. My days of being a Zambi started and went on for 25 years. I saw Timsar again in Switzerland, he had an operation on his kidney and stones as big as river bed stones came out of his kidney. The hospital in Switzerland wanted to put those stones in museum.to be continued
